Ethical Events and Sophie’s Charity…
Sophie was a normal, bright and fun loving 12 year old girl for whom the future was potentially limitless. In February 2004 her world and that of her parents, was then turned on it’s head when they discovered that Sophie was diagnosed with auto immune sclerosing cholangitis.
This is a disease that in essence means that the body’s immune system does not recognise its liver as it’s own and begins to attack and reject it. The liver is a vital organ with a wide range of functions – if it doesn’t function properly it is life threatening. A cocktail of drugs helps Sophie, and the 100’s of others to support the liver against the immune system. Neither Sophie, or her family were prepared to let this get in the way of her life. Despite the continual visits to hospitals for assessments and treatments, Sophie is now a gorgeous, fun loving and even more determined young lady of 16, who, with her family works tirelessly for the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation, raising awareness and undertaking numerous fund-raising initiatives.
We were delighted to be of assistance when a summer picnic was held to raise funds for the charity and the evening was huge success. Entertainment was provided by Keith ‘The Thief’ Charnley, a master of deception and sleight of hand genius and by Steve Nallon, the face behind many of the voices of ITV’s hugely popular Spitting Image series. The guests were treated to an array of impressions from Robin Williams (at his manic best) to the slow, dulcet tones of Alan Bennett, with contributions from Kenneth Williams and Woody Allen along the way!
Live music entertainment was provided by S-K-P.
This is just one example of how Ethical Events is helping…..

“We were delighted to have the experience and imagination of Ethical Events to support this fund raising event in the Summer. With their enthusiasm and advice we were able to hold a spectacular evening with wonderful entertainers. The bonus for us was that the practical responsibilities were taken care of and we could relax and participate in the evening. We raised a great deal of money for our charity medical research project”
